Colorado Gives Day – an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy through online giving – encourages strategic partnerships between businesses, individuals and nonprofits.

"Community engagement and philanthropy are important to the DaVita HealthCare Partners Village and we frequently challenge ourselves on what we're doing to be true corporate citizens," said Kent Thiry, co-chairman and CEO of DaVita HealthCare Partners. "We've contributed more than a million dollars to nonprofits and charities in Colorado so far this year and we thought that by partnering with Colorado Gives Day we can make the most of our giving and encourage others in the community to give too."

For Colorado Gives Day, DaVita HealthCare Partners is donating to the following seven organizations. Individuals can make a donation by clicking on the organization below.

Although none of these organizations perform work related to DaVita HealthCare Partners' core business, the company has longstanding relationships with all of them due to its strong commitment to community engagement. All of the organizations benefiting from the donation encourage innovation, creativity and service excellence in the areas of education and culture.

In the last three years, DaVita HealthCare Partners has given nearly $5 million to local nonprofits in Colorado. But DaVita HealthCare Partners' community engagement goes well beyond corporate philanthropy.

DaVita HealthCare Partners has a unique partnership with Denver Public Schools to design customized leadership and development programs for administrators, principals and teachers. The programs are modeled on longstanding DaVita University training and development courses and initiatives, including Academy, DaVita Way of Management, DaVita Way of Team and DaVita Way of Leadership.

DaVita HealthCare Partners also created a program called "Dynamic Volunteerism" that aims to help local nonprofits grow and thrive in ways unique to their needs. The program matches an organization's needs with a DaVita HealthCare Partners teammate's passion and expertise to help meet the organization's mission and goals.

DaVita HealthCare Partners' worldwide headquarters at 2000 16th St., Denver, CO 80202 is frequently used as a public asset, from conference rooms used by city and state officials for public meetings to its 14th floor marketplace hosting nonprofits for fundraising purposes. This past Election Day, one of the busiest polling places in the state of Colorado was in DaVita Healthcare Partners headquarters' lobby.

This year, DaVita HealthCare Partners also gave more than $1.5 million to nonprofits across the country through the DaVita® Way of Giving, the company's locally focused charitable giving initiative that helps 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations grow and thrive. As active and engaged citizens in their communities, teammates were encouraged to democratically choose locally based nonprofits to receive contributions.

Giving back is part of DaVita HealthCare Partners' Trilogy of Care: Caring for Our Patients, Caring for Each Other and Caring for the World. As a community first and a company second, DaVita HealthCare Partners has a passion for and commitment to clinical excellence and improving patients' health and quality of life.
