The new center, built in partnership with University Clinical Health, a world-class provider of kidney diagnostic and treatment services, will be Satellite Healthcare’s fourth in-center clinic in Memphis. Its other locations include Satellite Healthcare Pace Road, Satellite Healthcare South Germantown, and Satellite Healthcare Poplar Avenue. Satellite Healthcare now operates more than 80 Satellite Dialysis and Satellite WellBound home dialysis centers from coast to coast, serving more than 7,000 patients nationwide.

“We have been so heartened by the warm response we’ve received since opening our first Memphis center four years ago and are pleased that we will now have the capabilities to provide holistic, patient-centered care to more Memphis residents living with Chronic Kidney Disease,” said Satellite Healthcare COO Dave Carter. “We’re looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with University Clinical Health, a fellow not-for-profit organization that has achieved remarkable success in providing advanced medical care to the local community.”

University Clinical Health and Satellite Healthcare have joined forces to help address a growing need for dialysis services in the predominately African American community of Memphis – a demographic disproportionately affected by Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). More than 26 million Americans – one in 10 – suffer from CKD, and nearly half a million undergo regular dialysis treatment for kidney failure. Tennessee is among the three states hit hardest by the disease and, according to the Tennessee Kidney Foundation, more than 8,000 residents currently undergo regular dialysis treatment to stay alive.

“Our partnership marks a significant step forward in the delivery of innovative dialysis and kidney disease education services to the Memphis community,” said Dr. Brad Canada, who serves as Director of Nephrology at University Clinical Health and works in partnership with Dr. Hieu Vo at University Clinical Health Nephrology, who will oversee the new center’s operations as Medical Director.

Satellite Healthcare Chickasaw Gardens, located at 2980 Poplar Avenue, will celebrate with a Grand Opening and Kidney Health Resource Fair on Thursday, March 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Community members are invited to tour the center, check their blood pressure, and learn more about the various kidney health services available to them and their loved ones.
