Job Description:  Education Coordinator
The Education Coordinator supports the Liberty Dialysis/FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosopy.  Provides the inservice needs of the facilities within their assigned geography.  Ensures that all prgrams for new employee orientation, preceptor training, Nurses Technical Training, as well as all clinical services initiatives comply with the Fresenius standard.
Duties
  • Responsible for drving the Liberty Dialysis/FMS culture through customer service standards.
  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers, including patients, staff, physicians, clinical managers, area managers, business unit and corporate personnel and payors.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication with all customers.
  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
Training and Development
  • Responsible for the clinical orientation and on-going training of all direct patient care personnel as well as the orientation of all facility staff.
  • Responsible for CPR certification for all clinical staff.
  • Implements all training programs to support the delivery of the quality patient care as per the standards set forth in the Liberty Dialysis/FMS Clinical Services Training Manuals.
  • Ensure policies and procedures developed by Clinical Services are consistently implemented and incorporated into facility practices.
  • Collaborates with the Regional Quality Managers in driving quality standards through education regarding all ESRD regulatory and legal requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Monitors processes in the delivery of patient care through a quarterly inservice clinical audit.
  • Responsible for training preceptors on all programs.
  • Supports facility-specific, regional, and business unit quality goals and action plans, in order to achieve quality standards.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Managers and Area Managers in the scheduling and implementation of training programs and processes as directed by the Director of Training and Organizational Development.
  • Responsilbe for tracking all employees throug the Training Database, implementing training according to policy, including compliance with all risk management initiatives.
  • Responsible for assisting in teh addressing of and acting on any adverse events and actions thresholds as appropriate and directed byt the Regional Director of Education.
  • Communicates all Clinical Quality procedures to Clinical Managers for submission to Governing Body for approval and ensures the subsequent appropriate training is implemented.
  • Tracks, collects and reports on data on educational programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining schedule of classroom activities, and provide follow-up with Clinical Managers, Area Managers and Regional Directors of Education as necessary.
  • Provides education and training to clinical staff on new technologies.
  • Educates the appropriate personnel regarding the integrity and safety of the facility water systems.
  • Participates in renal disease management programs.
  • Any other special project6s as assigned by the Regional Director of Education and the Director of Training and Organizational Development.

Required Experience
  • Registered Nurse. Advanced education, CNN or CDN preferred.  CNN or CDN will be required within 18 months of assuming position.
  • CPR instructor certification.  Must be licensed in all states for which they have responsibility.
  • At least 1 year experience in dialysis.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, results orientation, team building, motivating employees, performance management and decision making
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accomidations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perfrom the essential functions. 
  • Day to day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, regional and facility staff and physicians.  The position requires travel between assigned facilities and various locations within the community.  Travel to regional, business unit and corporate meetins may be required.
  • The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials.
