Job Description Job Title: PEARL Trainer Reports To: Clinical Information System Manager FLSA Status: Exempt Travel: 25% of Time SUMMARY Plans, develops, coordinates and conducts PEARL specific training programs for employees of the organization. As necessary, provides training for adjunct computer programs utilized in addition to PEARL. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Participates in needs analysis studies to determine PEARL training needs within organization. • Confers with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies. • Formulates teaching outlines and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops. • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, Heathstream training modules, demonstration models, Webex live and recorded sessions, computer tutorials, and reference works. • Selects or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training. • Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and PEARL software, and refresher training. • Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training. • Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods. • Revises design of training curriculum and methods to improvement effectiveness. • Participates in facility audits and contributes to corrective action plans/guidance to evaluate facility use of the PEARL Electronic Medical Record System and implement plans for improvement. • Participates in the testing and evaluation of updates to the PEARL Electronic Medical Record System. Records and reports any discrepancies discovered during the testing process. • Provides guidance, support and training for documenting accurately clinical issues utilizing the PEARL Electronic Medical Record System. SUPERVISORY REPSONSIBILITES This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities with the exception of in-direct supervision of trainees during active training encounters. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Basic knowledge of computer systems including the utilization of Microsoft Word and Excel applications. At least 1 year experience using or training the PEARL Electronic Medical Record System LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and suggest options for the accurate documentation of clinical issues with variable components in a complex medical care delivery environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
