Description

Create and implement standards for the storage environment including storage hardware and software configurations of Data Center operations for North America . Contribute to department long term and short term goal planning activities. Ensure above average reliability, performance, and data integrity through design, installation, configuration and support. Responsible for the on-going operations and people management for all aspects of the storage and backup area of the Data Center. Contribute to a standardized Enterprise Computing Environment framework to facilitate the successful execution of the strategic vision of the business management of FMCNA. Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive Enterprise Computing Services strategy. Advise management regarding trends and best practices regarding enterprise storage and storage network platforms and configurations. Conduct on-going standards re-evaluation for future needs based on past experience, business needs and changes in technology. Make recommendations and implement standard enterprise computing and server platforms and configurations as appropriate. Participate in long term and short term goal planning for IT Infrastructure group. Recommend and implement storage array platforms and configurations. Participate in on-going standards re-evaluation for future needs based on past experience, business needs and changes in technology. Manage a staff of storage administrators providing appropriate direction and supervision including annual performance appraisals where applicable. Develop and track operational practices. Responsible for Customer Relationship Management: Develop and track general procedures; Manage call resolution; Streamline and improve enterprise server tools (online help, management of FAQs); Create training and instruction tools where needed; Analyze performance metrics to ensure that performance and customer service standards are being met for the customer base; Act as customer advocate ensuring that large business accounts have a single point of corporate escalation and follow-up. Manage vendor relationships. Ensure provision of problem diagnosis and resolution for hardware and software related problems as required in a timely and accurate way, while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Assist Enterprise Computing Services staff in resolving escalated technical support tasks as required. Develop and participate in ongoing, proactive support including optimization and scheduled maintenance. Maintain configuration standards and documentation, which may include documenting internal and end-user policies and procedures, application notes and tips, and electronic support documentation. Project Related Responsibilities: Directly responsible for Data Center projects or subprojects of significant technical complexity. Assume leadership of projects including developing project plans, assigning tasks and facilitating team process. General Project Management: Illustrate highly complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicate project objectives, scope and direction across project teams. Conduct financial analysis regarding project delivery (ROI, Cost/Benefit, Breakeven). Work with cross-departmental teams on technical and business related projects and provide guidance to other Tech Services staff when appropriate. Negotiate project requirements across all levels of management. Coordinate and lead large project implementations as required. Provide appropriate budget projections as needed.



Requirements
Bachelor Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience. Industry certifications such as SNCP and vendor certifications desired. 10 years of experience in Information Systems. 5 years of experience in management of servers or storage environments. 5 years of experience with enterprise class backup solutions. 3-5 years experience in a management role. In-depth experience of operations and control procedures. High degree of technical knowledge related to server and storage hardware and software. Knowledge and experience with server Operating Systems such as Windows, Linux and HPUX. Expert experience standardizing through automation preferred. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with personnel both within and outside the company and at all levels including ability to effectively communicate with sometimes demanding clients. High level of analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills. Good judgment and timely decision-making abilities, responsibility and accountability. Self-motivated individual able to prioritize tasks independently in fast paced environment. Proven project management skills with the ability to organize resources
