Description We are looking for nurses who meet our criteria for the UltraCare Clinical Advancement Program (UCAP) RN3, Nephrology Nurse Specialist position. You will be responsible for accurate implementation of dialysis prescriptions and treatments including clinical protocols and algorithms, performing or directing set up and operation of dialysis machines as required; manage short-term and long-term goals in delivering care; undertake quality improvement initiatives and continuously monitor and check that goals are achieved and strategies developed and implemented for care. Ensure the safe and effective treatment of dialysis patients; provide intra and post-dialysis evaluations of patients and perform necessary emergency interventions during treatment; chart therapy information including complications and nursing management, medications administered and tests provided. Educate patients and families, mentor others in professional development, and serve as nurse specialist and consultant for a FMCNA facility. Requirements Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, with 3 years in nephrology nursing, or relevant experience. A national certification in nephrology nursing i.e. CDN, CNN, CHN, CPDN is preferred. Must have obtained a certification within 18 months of beginning the position with FMCNA. Ability to assume team leader or charge role. Must have good verbal and written communication skills, be able to work independently with minimal supervision and be flexible to the needs of the unit/facilities and adaptable in job functions.
