DATA PROCESSING SPECIALIST II

 

Job Responsibilities:

Verification of new patient demographic and insurance information.   Charge entry of stat and external clinics.   Perform review data/charges to verify compliance with ESRD billing guidelines to government payors.   Research and maintenance of AOB’s (Assignment of Patient Benefits), and correspondence containing authorizations, copies of insurance cards, insurance online verifications, etc.   Establishes and maintains the initial and ongoing patient authorizations and authorization logs.   Reporting monthly to the Collections Manager and Collection Supervisor of any potential authorization problems.   Requests rollbacks when appropriate including documentation of changes in coverage.   Monthly follow up of the “Treatments not Billed” and the “Patients without Insurance” reports.   Support the Rollback and Refund department as needed.   Ability to respond to payor communications, clinic financial coordinators, and patient requests as needed.   Ability to read and understand contracts with third party payors and apply the contractual arrangement to the set up of the patient account.   Ability to maintain database information as requested by supervisor.

 

Education Requirements:

            High School Graduate or Equivalent

 

Experience:

2-3 years of healthcare intake, admissions or collections experience, knowledge of ESRD regulations (including Medicare composite guidelines, National Coverage Determinations and the Coordination of Benefits period), and third party payors.   Average to above average written and verbal communication and customer service skills.   Strong organizational and problem solving skills. Dialysis experience required.
